This is from the newsletter of Johnny's Selected Seeds, which is in Maine, land of early frost, so you should be safe planting any of these things where you are.

-- Easy June-July direct seed HERBS - Basil, borage, calendula, chamomile, chervil, cilantro, dill, epazote, flax, marjoram, milk thistle, parsley, poppy, savory, and shiso.

-- Easy June-July direct seed FLOWERS - Ammi, calendula, centaurea, cosmos, grasses, hyacinth bean, marigold, nasturtium, nigella, phlox, poppy, reseda, salpiglossis, scarlet runner bean, sunflowers, sweet peas, tithonia, and zinnia.

-- Easy June-July direct seed VEGETABLES - Bush beans, beets, carrot, corn, cucumber, endive, escarole, kohlrabi, kale, lettuce, pumpkins, radishes, spinach, squash, and Swiss chard.

Some of these need cooler weather to germinate, but like I said, this list is for the north. Hope this somewhat helps.

Im up on veggies, but not on flowers, and these are great suggestions....

Nurseries are full of liner size plants. Yesterday I bought 30 from costco for $9.95 to replace pansies planted last October and cooked by the heat of summer. I am also now replacing sweet peas also from last October. The plants I am planting now will be replaced with the arrival of cooler weather. I prefer not to start seeds in the heat of summer. Al
