OK. I am going to try to post a picture directly into this post. The picture is of how I plant my seeds. I fill a clear plastic shoebox sized container with about two and a half inches of seed starting mixture and level it out. Then I use the eraser end of a pencil to punch in 8 to 15 equally spaced holes about 3/8 of an inch deep into the soil. Then I put an equal number of seeds into a small dish of water and wait until they get wet enough to sink. Then I put one seed into each hole. The wet seed will stick to the pointed end of the same pencil for dropping them into the small holes. Then I cover the seed with a thin layer of pure vermiculite, put the cover on the container, put it on a heat mat or into my oven where the pilot light keeps it at around 85 degrees, and wait, usually four to eight days. As soon as the first seed sprouts I remove the cover and immediately put the container, sprouted and unsprouted seeds alike, under my lights or outside on the patio in direct sunlight if it is over 50 degrees outside.

I think they look cool. Great way to make a potential liability into an asset! They're not the sort of item that would look good in my home, but I can see them as appropriate in lots of settings.

The Zephyr website lists a 50w PAR20 halogen bulb (screw in type) for your Breeze II. Knowing that, your local lighting store might be able to help you find lamps that would match up with it fairly closely. The lamps of this type that I found online were specified at 520 to 600 lumens, 2900K to 3500K color temp, and 90-100 CRI, so even buying the same type of lamp isn't guaranteed to give the same results when you replace a burned out lamp but maybe it's close enough. Since there's such a range in specs even on the same type bulb, you might go down to wherever you would normally buy bulbs (like Home Depot or Lowe's or your local lighting store) and buy one. Put it into a lamp that you own (it has a normal medium screw-in base) and shine it on the tiles. If you like that light, then look for lighting with those specs. This is a pretty simplistic approach, but at least you would know what kind of light you're going to get and know where to get replacements. If you have enough time, you could try calling the support people at Zephyr and ask about the specs on their lamps.

I will go back and research some more. There are some affordable Non Dimming Led Light bulbs now that are made for can lights---by affordable, I mean in the price range you quoted for the florescents. I suspect that once Phillips gets the dimmable LED's out, Osram, GE, etc etc, won't be far behind , and prices should drop once the "Competition" begins. I best checks to see if I have acquired any diseases that affect the elderly---as I seem to be getting "Green" Actually, to tell the truth, I just love deny the utility companies any more of my hard earned retirement pay than I hafta-----Ya know what I mean? Our Electric is usually about $60/month but I want to get it below $50. Anyway, thanks for your post, that is certainly a step in the right direction, for this point in time. Gary
