new at bulbs - paperwhite question

Hi! My sister gave me a pot of paperwhites - dont think they were ever planted in the ground. Just forced to grow in the pot. The pot has been sitting around this year in a dark corner, have all dried leaves. Should I leave the dried leaves be? What should I do to get them to bloom and when? I have a good idea they will bloom, I just dont know what to do and when.

My friend gave me a huge bulb in June that was sitting on a table in an old greenhouse of hers for 5 years, just sitting there. (She is giving me the greenhouse, too! I just need to go and get it, from SC to LA) anyways, I finally just put it in the ground mid-June and the thing is growing new leaves like CRAZY - it is a St Josephs Lily - will that bloom this year, and what should I do at the end of the growing season? Should I just leave the leaves to die off or cut it back???

Sorry for two questions in one post - I am known for babbling.

Thanks for any advice!!! Dina :)
