Have You Ever Grown a Glory Lily from seed?

Have you ever grown a Glory Lily (Liliaceae) from seed? After the rush of getting my seeds planted, I was just going over growing/storing instructions (from the back of the packet -- yes, I keep every packet of seed I sow) and I noticed that the instructions read that I would need to "lift and dry the tubers" in the fall. That got me to thinking. I did not buy tubers; I bought seeds. Does that mean that it will take the first year to essentially grow the tubers before I can expect those lovely vines? So far, I have 6 seedlings (100% germination), and they are doing beautifully, although they are only about 3 inches tall. Has anyone else ever grown from seed, or only from the tubers? If they're going to take a year to grow tubers, I may as well pot them up and leave them in the greenhouse, which is why I was wondering. Many thanks for any advice you have to offer. MacThayer
