Jungle soils are USUALLY shalow, devoid of organic mater & nitrogen etc.... little water retention.... well drained these are the coil charistics you will be interested in...... some plants from these areas will do better in a deep rich soil.....

Kkny is right that knowing English will help him out in the long run - multilingualism is a wonderful asset!! Young kids respond to tone of voice and body language more than actual words, so it's lucky that he's so young! Spend lots of time on the floor playing with him, make sure the keep your voice relaxed and friendly (since he doesn't know what you're saying, loud or cranky tones could be misinterpreted), do silly things and make silly faces to make him laugh... and ask if you can provide snacks or meals sometimes and help at bathtime (kids trust the person who gives them food and cares for their basic essential needs) I have a friend who teaches English in Japan and mostly works with young kids (18mos to 5 yrs). She was telling me how they teach by play with the little ones - lots of narration while they play (the truck goes up the road! my hands are on my head!) and the kids are mostly responding to the tone of voice and the the fun they're having, but are picking up English as they go. You can get him to help you learn his language is his mom asks him to tell the words for toys and foods etc. That might help him feel involved with your learning process and build some of the trust you'd like.

I also would rather give too much than too little. I wouldn't Assume people are greedy or selfish-maybe just excited..overzealous... I'm like that, even when I'm buying. That's why I have thousands of seeds I'll never use. It's just hard to see all the varieties and not get caught up in the possibilities. Also, if it were something else, say bottles- would anyone be mad that someone collected them for free and earned a small profit from them? Lastly, if a persons biggest hustle is to get free seeds and then sell them to make a buck, I'm busy thinking about how lucky I am that I don't HAVE to pull the ends that tightly to make them meet.
