hycaniths forming seed

My hycaniths are finished blooming and one has formed a seed pod.How long till the pod is ripe& how long from seed for blooms.what chances of color will the seeds grow.plants are dark pink.white and light pink.

Pod would be ripe when it is competely yellowed & dried out feeling. Pop the pod at this time & you would find the seeds. I don't think the color would be true though.
The seed would take forever to produce a good size bulb & I don't think you would like to wait for a seed to get a good looking Hyacinth plant. The Hyacinths will multiply rather quickly say in 2 or 3 years you would have more bulbs to replant in other places. A seed would take much longer but I can not give you a time because it would depend on the strength of the seed & climate conditions. Good Luck!

I don't mind waiting for it to flower.It's still green for now.looks like only one of them has divided.In my climate come May...should dry instantly.
I seen you we're getting snow this morning.I use to live Indpls.My BIL are down here now for fishing,there missing your snow.stay warm up there today.

The seeds I sent you were indeed, Pink Hyacinth Bean seeds. I didn't grow any other Hyancinth Bean plants last year, so there couldn't be a mix up. The leaves and stems of these plants are green just like the White Hyacinth Bean vines, but the blooms are pink. The seed pods are light green, but the seeds are generally dark. You can see the seeds through the seed pods once they get close to maturity. Mine are just starting to bloom here. Have you had blooms yet? Meg :)

Like Dave said, it is manageable to remove them while the plant is small but becomes impractical when the plant gains some size.

I've never grown these from seed but they will not be happy in a peat mix, nor under a cover that increases humidity. They need fast drainage, a great deal of light, good air circulation and no excess water. They are not suited as house plants unless you have a fancy light set up or huge windows.
