Calibrachoa 'Million Bells' or other annual ?
Comments (6)Thanks for your follow-up post...that's a good point about the basket placement. The baskets will actually hang from the porch beam closest to the north/outside edge of the porch (the gutter is right next to this outside beam). But the edges of the baskets will actually be quite close to the area outside of the porch, rather than deep under the ceiling of the porch. Your points helped me to think about these baskets some more...I think since the baskets will be so close to the edge that I should go with the Calibrachoa, at least in the western basket. The shade plants may just get toasted. For the other two baskets, I think I'll try the white Lobelias since the description for them says sun to partial shade. I have seeds for the Browallia and Asarina...I think I'll grow these in baskets under an awning on another side of the house. That way I could always switch everything around if the Calibrachoa seems like it needs more sun. Thanks again!...See MoreWhere can I get 'million bells?'
Comments (9)elita, in most of the country, the time to purchase flowering annuals and perennials is over, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if you can find them in your area. Especially considering that, like their larger cousins (Petunias), they can withstand freezes and frosts. You can find this pretty little plant in ANY garden center, big box store, etc. It has been very popular for several years. Look for them in hanging baskets....See MoreCalibrachoas 'million bells'
Comments (7)I guess I could hand pick the little duckers [caterpillars], but I noticed that when I try picking them up with a spoon or twig, they let out this greenish liquid. I wouldn't want to find out it is some type of acid that will irritate my fingers. The other thing too, is that I've read [if I read it right] is that million bells can be propagated by cutting off of a young plant? How does that work exactly? Would anyone please explain how I would keep them growing w/o having to buy a new plant every time? Thank you. ~Elita...See More4 year old disco belle blooming 2 different color blooms
