I look at it like other tools. An underpowered one, will be slow but it can get the job done in most cases. I then ask myself if spending twice as much for a tool that I only need the extra power 5% of the time is worth it. Most often, it is not. A 25-30cc trimmer will be able to do it. Not super fast but it can get the job done with patience. I know I wouldn't want to do regular yard trimming duty with a 30cc+ trimmer. Those things get heavy when most people are looking for lighter weight. I think that FS90 or 110 will be a good size. Not the lightest for yard trimming but enough engine to comfortably do some light-medium brush cutting. If they really need something bigger, renting a bigger brush cutter would be the way to go, and then maintain it with 90/110. I was doing a job at a friends this weekend. While I was cutting trees, he was clearing the lot with my FS80. The brush wasn't fully established. We first tried it with .095 line but the 1/2" saplings tore through that pretty quick. We threw on the 4 blade cutter and went back at it. It took about an hour to do the backside of his .25-.3 acre lot. A dedicated brush cutter could have done it about half the time I'd guess. The lighter weight was nice given the terrain and we weren't in any hurry. The 80 has a 25.4cc engine and rated at .95kW (same as the 90). The 90 is the cleaner running version of the 80. I'd like to try the three blade brush blade. It looks lighter and might spin up faster than the four blade heavy grass blade I have. In terms of manuf. I think any of the name brand ones will work. Honda, Echo, Stihl, Husqvarna, Shindaiwa, Tanaka, etc. My personal choice would rank Honda, Tanaka and Shindaiwa lower but only because I don't know where I can get reliable support for them. I have not needed support yet for my trimmer in the 4 years I have had it. But if I do, I know where I can get it.

Philip, I am just now repotting most of the collection. I really like the kitty litter and have bought another bag! So far, I haven't run across any of the ones I used the kitty litter in, but I also have not seen any problems pop up. I will continue to use it. If I find a good example during the repotting, I will take a pic and post it. Karen

You all sound like professionals...so here's a POV from a simple gardener. I love plants so I love going to those nurseries around town that cater to people who love plants...and they provide really cool seminars, great herb plant help for those of us who WANT more than the few types of main herbs sold at "box stores" (including someone getting me a plug of her own sweetgrass plant when they couldn't find one for me) ....they offer thousands and thousanmds of different plants at my favorite nursery. I just would never NOT support such a place!! and they do WELL here ...I know the owenrs and they are youngish, but they are both very open minded to working with the niche they have. They explore it very aggressively (but nicely) . And they do well. This is a free market and there are absolotely millions of people who DO know a thing of two about their plants and will go out of our way to support the places that are there for us. That said, I go to Home Depot too...do I buy plants there? Not so much, no....but I do like to go there and get this great organic compost they've got that I've seen nowhere else. And I have , on the rare occasion, bought a plant from there - they have done just fine, but only because I will only buy a plant that I can see is ok and not too stressed. I know what I'm looking for. I buy far, far more of my plants at the local nurseries and I am not the only one doing that for sure ! The upshot here , I think, is that this is a free market and the smaller establishments CAN cater to their target audience very nicely. I have worked part time at one nursery, another good one, and I have been at many in the area. Do I see them all catering well to their niche? No I don't . But I certainly see some that do incredibly well. And I thnk that is how things tend to fall out...it's just business, it's not about the masses who don't know plants or lost integrity of plant providers or morals or anything like that . In the end perhaps it's really just mostly how well you can flow with your own business. Selling plants is a business. You might love your plants and care for them better than the box stores (and this is definitely true from what I've noted ) however, the plant is a "unit" , no matter how great a unit...and selling units is the object of making money. Business is business. I think all you professionals who sell plants or design for a living are so incredibly blessed!! You are in the business of selling "units" that bring incredible joy , beauty - not mention "units' that can teach patience, love and caretaking ability - to everyone who buys form you or buys your designs. DO NOT BUY LazyBoy furniture. I thought I was buying a quality brand. I paid twice as much for the LazyBoy Furniture than anything in Raymour Flanigans or JC Penney, Macys etc.. They promised me quality and service. They lied. Since the day I received the Furniture almost a $3000 purchase, I have had problems. I have made numerous Phone calls and emails and I don�t even get a Call back. This company does not stand Behind their products even within the first Minute it arrives. They completely ignore You. I would have never dreamed a company Like this would have such a bad attitude. PLEASE HEED THIS WARNING. I WISH SOMEONE WARNED ME. SHAME ON LAZYBOY.
