FWIW, and possibly unfortunately, I agree with your friend. The short moment when the door is open isn't sufficient to justify matching the satin nickle inside; and IMHO, metals within eyeball range should be at least of similar color. One sees (even if not consciously studies) the exterior lights and exterior knobs as a decor unit, and upon departing, the room's interior knobs (whether cabinet or several doors) are a different unit. I realize the SET of mix/match knobs looks strange while it's in your hand, but honestly, once installed, I don't think anyone ever stands at the door's edge in order to eyeball the interior and exterior knobs at the same time. I suspect you'd have to work hard to name any m/m sets in your present world, and yet there are likely to be many (especially on bathroom doors).

I am not familiar with tung oil at all. Our chairs are RH natural and we left as is…they have darkened since purchase and are not as dark as table. I tried to do a quick search for the techniques and did not find the one i had previously seen. I am pretty sure it was on pinterest. A few of the techniques were a bit too labor intensive for me. The legs have a lot of detail Love your chairs! Your set looks beautiful.

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I've been trying to get some outside work done while the weather holds, like repainting my exterior front light fixtures and painting the front door. We've been chipping away at the kitchen for nearly 2 years now so there's a lot around my house that's looking pretty shabby. Oy Vey! The island will be a different color, have a different countertop and the surround is bead board. Other than the door style, it is different in looks than the perimeter. I'm still going back and forth. Now that the drawer faces are dry, I'm going to experiment with a couple of different looks. Kathe
