Floor color in colorful kitchen?

We are making this kitchen. Wondering what floor color folks think would go well. The wood going from left to right will be: Pantry door - elm, first drawer stand -elm, in front of sink - maple, right of sink - aspen, tall dishwasher cabinet - elm, dish rack = teak, above fridge - maple. The toe kicks are stainless steel drawer fronts. The curved bottom most drawer front left of the sink is for potatoes and onions and is shown in the pictures as stainless steel mesh, but instead it will be a wicker screen with a wood perimeter painted the color of the dark blue back splash.

Comments (8)I think either wood that is the same , my first choice, or a tile look vinyl I really dislike tile floor in a space where you spend a lot of time in. Comments (13)This is so interesting because I was told not to try and match because when I have my existing floors refinished they won't match the new ones. It seems that staying with the narrow floor boards will work best. I think my floors are red oak. As you can see they have an orange tint which is why I was concerned with matching them to new wood....See Morekitchen wall color and new flooring help
Comments (38)I wouldn't say it looks too bedroomy but it doesn't have quite enough visual weight to compete with the dark dinette set and the dark cabinets. It's not a miss but it could be better. If your Mom loves it, that's great. If not, I would look for something that echoes some of the darker colors in the kitchen. It's a long wall, she might be able to use a triptych....See More- PRO

9 years agoThere is a beautiful tile from Emser called downtown that has some shades and character that would work. You also could go with a light maple wood floor. Then there is a cool luxury vinyl tile from Mannington Adura Linea in a gray fun pattern

8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoI think you either go all out and match the craziness on the floor, or else use the floor as an opportunity to ground things (no pun intended!). Sometimes a very simple wood or stone look on the floor with this kind of bold design can help accentuate what you are doing, rather than distract from it. You don't want the floor stealing the show.
We really like grey floors in this kind of application, because all the color really "pops" in contrast. Here are some ideas in vinyl plank, which is great in kitchens because it is waterproof:
