Garden Art or Sculptures
Comments (23)Many garden statuary are imported so it's best to find out the names of local manufaturers and to ask if they hold factory sales. You just might find one near your area. My garden find for the day, is surprisingly from a card shop.. Carlton Cards is holding sales and I got my coloured glass windchimes for around $13. I plan to take it apart and not to utilize it as windchimes. (one windchime is enough) I like the look of the sun shining through glass but it's been quite expensive to find stained glass work for outdoor purposes. This way, I can hang the glass on branches around the yard and feel great about the splashes of colours. Right now I'm regretting not purchasing those really neat statues of plump pigeons to set in one or two corners of the garden. An element of surprise is always a necessary thing for me when designing....See MoreShare your (non-art) art
Comments (57)I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing all the photos and reading the stories of your collections here. Such beautiful pieces and wonderful, touching stories. To see most of mine, you'd think my home was full of antiques, which is far from the real deal, but these seem to be most of my most interesting non-art things. However, some of you have given me some ideas for things I could do in the future with things I have stored! This is a small collection of silver vases, albeit in need of some polish right now. My collection of miniature tea sets. This started with my aunt giving me her much-used Mickey Mouse set she had used back in the 30's as a child and a then-new set when I was about 8-years old (the blue and white delft set). The rest is a mix of old and new I picked up along the way as an adult. I also have a lot of old hankies that belonged to my grandmother and great-grandmother, and yes I use them at weddings and funerals. They made some of them, including the tatting on the edges. Gallery hallway of family photos (old and new) To honor our home states (Alabama and Ohio) I started looking for old maps of our states and regions. This is one of Alabama and of the Eastern US in our breakfast room. The next one is an Agricultural map of Ohio. I think I've posted enough. Thanks for viewing. BTW, those clocks are awesome! And I adore that mirror, and I can't say enough about that belly cast!...See MoreCollecting art that you love vs buying art to decorate your house?
Comments (10)I love, love, love art. I do somewhat intentionally match it to my room, usually with a common color. That does not mean the dominant colors are all the same, maybe just splashes. I know this is not a popular practice in these forums. I also match the theme of art because I am drawn to people. 99% of my art is of faces. Because I am drawn to particular colors, most of my art and my decor also reflects that. My home contains art that I love but it must also fit the criteria of being able to decorate my space in terms of size, color, and theme, all while speaking to my soul. Even though I coordinate my art, my house is the exact opposite of Home Goods. Truth be told, I do have a handful of items from them ;-). You can still have interesting and unique spaces that are not all matchy matchy while still coordinating art....See Moreideas for art work on this wall?
Comments (13)IMO you buy art because you love it not because it “goes “ with the decor. I think one of the giant floral wallpapers would be great on that wall. BTW wood slat blinds and that chandelier do not work together...See Morerredpenn
