Once you get the pill in their mouth run your fingers under their throat area. That will help them to swallow.
Our kitty hated the Greenies and I had such high hopes. I hadn't heard the butter trick but I can imagine dropping it. A couple weeks ago, we tagged team our sweet kitty. DH held her and tilted her head and pried her jaw and I threw the pill towards the back of her throat. We tried to keep her mouth closed but she spit the pill back out. Second time my aim must have been better.
I def put this in the category "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again." ( Apologies to the late David Foster Wallace.)
girlnamedgalez, that's what I was trying to remember when doing Lizzie because it was mentioned in a video I watched. Instead I rubbed her nose and cheeks. It worked though thanks to the butter.
Barncatz, DH used to help me with Lizzie which was about 5 years ago and he's just no good. His job was to hold her down while wrapped in the towel & I'd do the rest. I fired him so he's in charge of the dogs who would never resist any type of pill if they're in food.
I completely agree with David. But I was exhausted from spending the whole morning on cats.
There's a misunderstanding here, Elmer. I haven't turned to strangers on the internet to ask about my thyroid, and I don't need medical care for it. But I know many others who have been dissatisfied with the usual thyroid test and the usual prescription.
You might not agree with this, but in my experience many physicians are quick (too quick) to prescribe in general, and they lean toward drugs that have been promoted to them. And if they're not even being taught in med school about options to treat hypothyroidism, they're certainly not going to undertake any research on their own.
Elmer, I don't know why you insist I need to be seen by an endocrinologist. As I stated plainly above, I haven't turned to strangers on the internet to ask about my thyroid, and I don't need medical care for it. I don't take thyroid hormones, nor any other prescription drug on a regular basis. And you know perfectly well I don't live near a medical school, so I suppose this was yet another of your attempts to show off your sophistication (or something).
You accuse Annie of "carrying on," but you're the one who's carrying on. I posted a link to an article I thought some might find interesting, and you flew in like an avenging angel--although I think a different image might be more appropriate. You compare me to the character Emily Litella, a somewhat deaf elderly woman. You say without basis that I've condemned the world of endocrinology. And your accusation that I'm "too quick to latch on to conspiracy theories" is as laughable as it is rude and insulting.
Go away, Elmer.
Just down right beautiful!!!
It’s so good! Now you get to enjoy it.
It is so on trend, but the vanity makes it just a little bit different. I love the rug you chose and hope you post when that is in.I might add some bamboo blinds to the windows in a light color like your vanity.
I too have always had cats. The 2 that I have now were being re-homed by others in the area & I saw them on FB about a year apart & took each one at the time. I agree with Lucille, I would give it a shot & be looking around for another home in case it does not work out.
Me too to the cats forever. We did decide last year that we are too old for another dog when both our 15 and 17 year olds died a year ago. I was very upset with the totally unexpected death of the five year old cat, Piper, last April but wasn't looking to replace her but then the cat distribution thing happened. Regardless ,this poor thing was starving and still so nice, so hopefully tomorrow my vet's tech can scan her and definitely determine her sex.
Lily, I believe NinaPearl said it best.

I had a monster Lillian Austin that was my favorite of all my roses. One day I noticed that it had RRD & I was heart broken. I started chopping it down & during the process of getting it out I noticed a shoot from a root that looked just like yours. My DH pulled out the rootball of the original rose & left the root with the new shoot. Within a couple of years I had a decent size Lillian Austin with no RRD. I was so thrilled!!!
Yayat!! a new baby Bliss I have gotten 2 babies from Soul Sister. I just love those new babies.
I have been using Gardenweb since the 80's, before Spike took over. Not on the KT because I was busy learning everything that I know about gardening. Outside of raising a family gardening pretty much has been my life, I have enjoyed it s o much. I took a brief break to learn to paint then we built a new home on acreage in the middle of the woods & I did not pick up a paint brush again after moving into the new home. Before Houzz I went by the name of Gardeningartist. It has been sad to see the forums shrink the way they have, there was a wealth of information here in the past. I hate to see it become lost.
If you click on the Internet Archive link I posted above, you can click through the links and browse old pages from various dates and see all those long ago names...
Here's Sep. 2004...

Seeing the old format is a blast from the past too 😀
P.S. Some of the posts are archived too, but not all, so when you click on some of them you can read them.
Not sure when I first joined Gardenweb - I miss it. I much preferred it to what is now the discussion forum of HOUZZ. So much arrogance and snark here now. Nothing like it used to be.
Any broadleaf weed killer will get rid of it.
Charles if you do not find a way to get them out be prepared for a lot more. Perhaps try a long handled hoe, 3 pronged fork whatever works for you. The roots come out easily.
They're a tender annual. The only way to prevent a lot more is to get rid them before they seed or put down a pre-emergent early next spring. Whether they're mechanically removed or poisoned doesn't matter once they've seeded. I pull most of them, but some of them are impossible to pull.
I have been all over his youtube page & his website.. He has dozens of photos of his vertical lifts & many compare to the photos above. He talks about exactly how he achieves these results. In the photos posted the eyes have not changes but the shape of the skin around the eyes has been restored to it's youthful appearance. I saw one set of photos that showed a woman at 35 then at 52 then at 52 & 1/2 following surgery. She looked 35 again, not a bit different. His opinion is that botox can be very helpful but fillers not so much & can actually be harmful to your appearance. He is also a big advocate for fat transfer along with the surgeries rather than fillers. I have never considered surgery but I would if I could afford to use him.
PS I am thinking the disposable eye patches would be used for special occasions when I want to look good. Definitely not a daily thing.
Today is my botox consult! Ironically also the day I see my dentist about the crown that partially broke thanks to teeth grinding. I definitely want the botox for the grinding/TMJ but I could be convinced to do a tiny bit around my eyes…curious to see what she recommends.
@Kswl one of the eye masks I looked at contained caffeine, niacinamides, and some other stuff, most of which is in theEmogene eye serum I already use. I think the masks are substantially the same as using eye cream and plastic wrap. 😆 I think I’ll pass.
I did not realize the Emogene eye serum I use also contains bakuchiol!
The PA I saw yesterday had just had microneedling done the day before. Her skin is gorgeous and she does not wear make-up. I meant to ask her about microneedling for me and forgot.
I am going in for an appointment to get clearance for TSA precheck this coming Wednesday. They will take fingerprints at that time. Now I will be worried about my fingerprints,
"I don't NEED my fingerprints anymore, at my age and lifestyle" ...
If you do any travelling you may well need them. We get fingerprinted entering the US and now, thanks to the disaster that is Brexit, we can't even go to mainland Europe without it.
I never thought about it but looking at my old hands they do look faint.
