OT: SASBE postage

The new postal rates and attendant ZIP code and envelope-size rules are confusing, at least to me. Different postal clerks charge me different rates for the same size envelope. I don't mind, because now I'm mailing only a few but it could be a nightmare when trading shifts into high gear. I don't know how much postage to ask for, and I don't want to ask for too much. Trades are different. I'm talking about seeds for SASBE when there is no trade.

How much postage will you request for a "seeds for SASBE" offer?

I ask for two stamps on a SASE, the extra postage is needed because I sometimes go over an ounce.

Bubble envies are considered packages, so their dimensions of H x L can effect the rates, add onto it extra postage for addtional ounces.

You can't tell the person offering free seeds how much postage you will put on an envy, that's BS. If someone told me they would only put a particular amount and no more I'd tell them to take a running jump through a donut hole. If you're getting free seeds, you pay whatever the sender tells you to put on. If you don't jibe with it then don't do that free offer.

Most of the people I deal with don't care and pack 3-4 stamps. For the regular ones I put one two. For the chunky ones, I send 3. For the obscene ones - 4. I do have a postal scale, but with the variances in postal acceptance, I'm left scratching my head.

I will say, everything has gone through and nothing has been returned. I don't think they are as picky on ones that are hand mailed.

I would like an answer from USPS though that is consistent and reasonable.

Well, sorry to say, this happens sometimes. But, there are those who also send you some extra stamps. When I get someone who hasn't sent enough postage, I write them a note saying why I couldn't send everything, and put in enough seeds to make weight for the postage they did send. This way, they get seeds for the postage they did send, and the note lets them know what happened so they can avoid not sending enough postage next time. This really helps if you have a postal scale to weigh each envelope. Hope this makes sense. It does to me....lol! garden_n_mom
