30' free standing gas range Help!
Comments (6)Another possibility for you: the Amana AGR5735. I was happy enough with the one we found in our rental that we bought one for our new house. People will tell you that Amana is not at the top of Consumer Report's reliability list but then the high-end stuff people like here is quite a bit less reliable than Amana. I've had no problems with the two we've had over five years or so. It has a 16K BTU/hr burner (14K after conversion to propane, which is what we use), good heavy-duty, continuous cast iron grates (better than on the Maytag version, I think), simmer settings adjustable to very low via screws under the control knobs, the largest oven I've ever seen in a 30" range. Well within your budget, should be available for $700 or so, the AGR5835 adds convection for about $800. Despite what Trixie said, I don't thing you'd find anything in your price range that couldn't be converted to propane. Most (for sure the Amana) are even shipped with the conversion kit included. But there's no harm in checking to be sure. Trixie's advice about performance is good. The derating is typically 10% or so but some (some GE models in particular) suffer much bigger losses for some reason....See MoreSlide in versus freestanding gas range?
Comments (1)A free-standing range is fine - in fact, if you got a slide-in, you'd have a gap behind it that you'd need a filler for since slide-ins are not as deep as free-standing....See MoreBosch free standing gas range
Comments (13)Jennymamma - I'm glad you brought that up! I also wanted a convection microwave, which the Bosch isn't. I wanted one with at least one rack (not a rack turntable). I bought the JennAir, my husband installed it before the range was here. Once the range was here it did NOT match (even though I was assured it would). The microwave had a blue hue to it while the Bosch has no blue to it's stainless. It drove me nuts! I told Lowe's about it when I was shopping for something else and they said "no problem, just take it down and we will exchange it for one that matches." I was shocked since I had had it for 26 days already. They gave me a full refund and I got the GE Profile Convection (I think 1750 or 1740), not the Advantium. They look great together!...See MoreNeed free standing gas range suggestions @ $2K
Comments (1)We have a free standing Bosch and I love it. We bought it about 6 yrs ago and it was right about that price range (we bought a floor model though...so I'm sure it was discounted). It's a 4 burner with a warming drawer...oven temp seems to be right on, easy to use. I actually have never used the self cleaner but I need to figure that out soon. Grates are easy to clean..they're black. We've had a repair guy out twice.....once because I didn't know how to use the temperature probe correctly (I had a major blonde moment...so glad they didn't charge me for the visit!!!) and the second time b/c some sensor went out. Not an expensive fix either. I would buy one again....See Morejqueen3
