My Dr. was in big trouble today !!!!!
Comments (8)Florence.... When you said "my Dr. was in trouble, I thought you meant YOUR doctor who operated on you.....for a second I thought he'd messed up your hip or something...lol. That photo is really amazing, and the sheer size and beauty of that rose is a testament to the love you have obviously shown it over the years. Even giving it a haircut is a sign of a good mama....(and poppa, in your hubby's case). Your husband is a good man to fearlessly take on such a monster rose...sounds like my hubby. Tonight we were outside with a flashlight planting out some suckers of Scotch roses....our neighbors don't even question things like this anymore....they know we're weird about roses. The ground was rocks on top of rocks and DH wrestled some major boulders and roots out of the ground, breaking two shovels in the process. Now that I see how little cuttings grow in your yard, now I know how our "Pompom" rose will one day look! Celeste...See MoreEver have a bad haircut?
Comments (29)For many years I got my perms and cuts at the local vocational school, because we lived just a few steps from the place. Because they had a good teacher/supervisor the work was always done well. Also all work was done by second year students, which may be true at any vo-tech school. After some years the super retired and a new young teacher/super was hired. She was as good as the first one, and she and I became friends. When I had my first knee replacement, she came to my house for my hair cuts. She is now retired, which tells you how long I went there. The new super was not impressive at all. I got a perm a few days before my DGS's wedding and it was a horrible mess. I haven't been back, and that was 2 years ago. I don't like to make appointments, because the day may come and I just don't feel up to going, or it might be raining or snowing, etc. So I go to places like Fantastic Sams (but no more) and WalMart where you don't need an appointment, and have gotten some good perms and cuts, but you can't count on that happening every time. Even so, there is no place here where you can get a cut for $11.00. Minimum here is $14.95. I envy those of you who can cut your own hair. Sue...See MoreI gave up the fight today
Comments (26)I gave up the fight a couple months ago. I have always had naturally curly hair that I hated except for my few teenage hippy years where my hair was groovy!!! As an adult I have spent countless hours pulling my hair smooth with a large round brush as I blow dry and then use a straightening iron to smooth my bangs. I spent 40 minutes a day doing my hair. When I retired, even though I have more time now, I decided to go curly girl. I have been working up to it slowly but actually went out shopping today au natural and my last two salon visits I had her do the bang area straight and allow the rest of it to go curly. I cut my hair time down to ten minutes a day when I wear it curly. If the big snow event doesn't happen we are having dinner with six other couples who have never seen my hair curly. Tomorrow will be the first. DH said it doesn't look bad, which isn't exactly a glowing endorsement but he's bald so at least I have hair!...See MoreWhen was your last haircut?
Comments (62)Yesterday. The place I usually go just reopened a couple of days ago. They used to accept walk-ins, but are now appointments only. I had an appointment for 1:30 and I showed up 10 minutes early, and waited outside after checking in. Everyone in the store was wearing a mask. The stylist was running late, finishing the previous customer, she came out and said that both I and another customer who was waiting there had been scheduled for the same time. I allowed him to go first and went to shop for shoes which I was planning on doing after the haircut. I returned after that just as that man was paying. I was ushered to the seat, and sat there about 10 more minutes because something was wrong with the computer/register. The stylist finally started, and she was mostly using clippers rather than scissors. At times while she was proceeding I had doubts because it seemed she was cutting it shorter than I had asked, but I was happy at least that it was no longer going to flop in my eyes or blow around in the wind making me look like Einstein. The end result is quite a bit shorter than I usually get, but I like the way it looks, and really like the way it feels, and this way if everything has to close again, I'll be fine for longer....See Moretheforgottenone1013 (SE MI zone 5b/6a)
