Comments (8)Thanks for your comments; jb-I knew from the start that there would have to be a change in the orientation of the slabs due to the layout of my kitchen as we did no demo or moving of anything. I did discuss with our fabricator (I spent about 2 hours with him working on the layout) the best approach to seaming without affecting the integrity of the structural support of the cabinets. I guess I'm more of a pragmatist than perfectionist because quite honestly, the seams bother me not at all. I just love my stone!...See MoreShould counter veins all go in same direction on all counters?
Comments (64)Threeapples I haven't done anything yet. Just in the early stages of planning a remodel and only know I want white cabs and a whitish stone that isn't marble.Love it, but too afraid of the etching and staining. The Macabus is looking promising, but not sure I want something that linear. Will check out the crosscut. Never seen Danbury in person; yours looks beautiful. Gigi, what is your stone? Also love that and Shanghai's....See MoreSupport for overhang on granite counter top.
Comments (38)Need advice please. have island 10ft long island x 4ft 2" (50inches)wide. overhang will be 12 inches down the entire 10ft length. have 24"d base cabinets plus another 12"d set of base cabinets back to back. (36 inches of base cabinets that granite will sit on). question is how many support posts will be needed down the 10ft length of overhang ?(14inch overhang) Will one support post on each end be sufficient or do I need 3? can't add metal supports into top of cabinets, not enough space between the cabinet doors and top of cabinets. no room for corbels. support posts are the only option. would like one on each end vs adding one in middle. help!...See MoreHow to run Wavy (Brown Fantasy) Granite with L shape counters..
Comments (6)Gle2011, I had this same concern when templating my granite tops. I don't have Brown Fantasy but another linear granite. I went to the granite yard and worked with them on the templating so I could see exactly what I was getting. This is an instance where you want to be very involved and not leave anything to chance or someone else's idea of what looks good. My fabricator would not do a mitered seam in the corner, I can't recall his exact reasoning as it was last year. Here is a picture of my corner with linear granite. There is a seam a little bit past where the hydrangea plant is. We ran the veins the same way as Debbi Washburn's picture above....See MoreArden Hills Estates
