Umbrella and looks to be a small space waht do you use it for? I see another patio so maybe post the pics from further back so we can see the whole space . Post here in comments DO NOT start another post . What do you use the wall all around for?

It might have been 12x6. It was a verbal quote, not written, though the contract would be written I suppose. I wouldn't give him the 1/2 down without one. I'm just looking to see if it's even possible to build a cover with such a long span. If it's not, then this contractor should certainly know this, and I wouldn't want to hire him. He said that structurally, it would be the same with one 24' span, or two 12'with a post underneath. No cost difference or strength difference, just aesthetics.

How about leaving them uncovered -- is there something to hide? -- and adding window film to reduce solar heat gain, or summer heat gain and winter heat loss.

If the smaller patio extension is just made of pavers, consider re-laying it so it centers with the middle area between the windows. Perhaps is already does, but the camera angle makes it look off. With a pergola between the windows and the firepit on the small patio, your windows will still get good light, and you can enjoy the fire without danger of burning down the pergola.

You can install a metal sleeve in the floor of the patio to receive an offset umbrella.

I can’t spend a lot. Yes I do have a covered patio below this. Mainly I want to cover and protect the exterior doors. Awnings?

Yes you could simply add awnings mounted below your gutters to protect the doors.
