Curb appeal needed - front door color for brick home?
Comments (49)Oops- try the link now http://s24.photobucket.com/albums/c38/bobval/exteriors/ Thanks Michael :O) Les - I too was thinking a golden/fall yellow - more muted. I said mustard, but I mean more of a dijon maybe :O) Here's a mockup that squirrel did with two teal doors. She even put the pink roses in for me :O) (I am nuts about pink roses and will be planting a pink climbing rose). Here's a brick house in my neighborhood with a teal door: And here's a brick house that has some creamy trim...definitely nicer than white! Comments (8)-I would also limb up the tree to allow one to see the front of the house to the eaves. -Decide what you are interested in as far as a garden (if anything) including how much work you want to do. Typically at least some evergreen shrubs, but you may also want some flowering shrubs or flowering perennials. In this case less is more, a few larger blocks rather than one of each kind of plant. Choose shrubs that will remain small enough so that you won’t need to do a lot of trimming to keep them below the height of the windows. Edge can be straight or a long sweeping curve, but not something that wiggles. -Do something to draw attention to your door. It could be as simple as painting a walkway onto your driveway or as complex as adding a roof over the entry to mark out the position of the door. -I would paint the downspouts to match the siding and likely add properly sloped swales to provide drainage away from the house for the downspouts. I don’t find the long tails on the gutters attractive....See MoreCurb appeal advice (columns, garage door, front door)
Comments (1)Paint the garage door the same color as the house. The garage door isn't really a feature on your house, especially once it's a flat panel and will distract from what you are trying to do with the front door and porch. The roof is super, but it is very busy so you want to be sure not to have too many elements competing for attention. The pavers are great and will pop more once the garage door disappears into the house. You also have some really nice landscaping elements. Play all those things up, not the garage door....See MoreIncrease curb appeal front door on side of property
Comments (3)You can do a hard prune on the rhododendron and move it to the right side on your property where you need screening. I would create an enclosure of plants to hide the yard by sliding doors, because that is where most people who don't know better will go. Get a trellis to hide the trash cans. Maybe you can install an arbor over the garage door and extend it out to the steps. Extend the walkway down the drive after you create a rock berm to raise the height. Plant something eye catching to the left of the arbor. I think the deck would look better painted white....See Moreptreckel
