Increase curb appeal front door on side of property

Hi!

The front of my house is on the left side of the house. There are stairs leading to the front door behind the overgrown rhododendron, which I intend to take out since it’s exceeded the height limit for corner property. Whatever I plant there needs to be under 30”

Plan is to replace the rhode with short evergreen shrub, box or ilex. Also thought about a pencil point juniper with box but worry that it will be out of balance.

Would like to add a shrub in front of the trash cans to obscure them. There is a honey suckle vine on the trellis on the right side. How can I increase curb appeal while also maintaining balance with the right side?

Thanks
