Need help with a lounge room
Comments (4)To counter all the cool tones and to make the piano look less heavy, I would suggest an Oriental rug that is mainly red. You need curtains panels on the windows, and I would suggest a cream color in a heavy, possibly self-patterned fabric. Move the piano to where the chairs are and make a conversation area with a couch in front of the windows (great light for reading), a small coffee table (glass to show off rug), an end table with a nice lamp and a small easy chair or two across from the sofa. Definitely beautiful art on the walls...See MoreFormer dining room, turned sitting/game room help
Comments (5)Hi! Just a couple of questions to get the ball rolling... Is the door on the back wall part of your decor, or is that a doorway? What do you want the room’s use to be? Will the table be for dining or are you looking at more of a “game table”? How many people need to be seated at the table? It always helps if you can sketch out the room with dimensions, windows, doorways marked. Thanks!...See MoreTurning Formal Dining Room into Sitting Area need help
Comments (32)Kristy - I think the new flooring you picked looks good. What do you think of the four club chair pic just posted below? Honestly, those set ups remind me of institutional settinfs like an airport lounge or a chain hotel lobby. I dont think they look all that inviting. I’d prefer two chairs and some other kind of seating....See MoreWhat furniture should I buy and how to arrange in small sitting room?
Comments (3)The way you have it arranged in the first picture is fine. Since you are getting new furniture, get side chairs with very narrow arm rests. The chairs you have now have wide arm rests and that takes up a lot of room. Measure twice, buy once! Your new couch is rather modern. Before you get anything else, discover your style. Your dining room chairs are rather traditional. Put in top HOUZZ search box different styles (one at a time). Examples include transitional, casual, traditional. You may be able to find a nice stand alone recliner from La-z-boy. They have a really cool thing on the first page of their website that shows how you need to get the right chair for your height. https://www.la-z-boy.com/c/chairs/_/N-otsk94...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
