Comments (5)i'm guessing laceyvail's southern location affects his/her plant's size. and YOU are in the PNW where all plants are twice the size of their sisters in new england.I've had my clump 3 years and it is huge and happy in a moist area w/ diameter of 4'.It has months of flower and seed interest. Nice to grow small flowered clematis through it and tall grasses near it. best, Mindy...See MoreLittle bitty plant that looks like a violet....

Comments (4)I have successfully relocated small trees during the winter, but early Spring (March-April) is typically recommended. Soak the soil well before digging to minimize root damage and replant on a small berm or mound as others suggested. The roots are somewhat invasive, fragile, and shallow and can spread a considerable distance... at least as far as the drip line of the tree. Don't lift the tree by its trunk... get under it and lift the rootball. The tree will grow in repeating flushes nearly all year, but Spring and Autumn flushes are considered the most aggressive. Protect it from frost and high winds, water it heavily but don't let it get wet feet, and you'll enjoy tasty returns. Personally, I wouldn't plant an avocado in my yard due to its excessive leaf drop and watering requirements... but that is just my opinion....See MoreA little bitty big announcement
Comments (14)I can sympathize with you over the floor repair. We needed to have a piece of our maple floor redone - we even had the extra wood to do it, already stained and read. But the contractor kept dragging his feet. So I called the furniture refinisher and repair guy who made the new oak stretchers for our antique chairs. He not only fixed the maple floor, he even created a new corner to the oak tread that the puppy had chewed in the foyer. Then he stained it and it's impossible to find the repair. Thank heaven for craftsmen who know what they're doing. Your hood is fantastic and so is the tile. I thought the red dot was some flaw in the photo!...See Moresushipup2
