As a company administrator I do a lot of hiring, and because we evaluate the five "C's" of employment, a minimal amount of firing. The "C's" are Competence, Chemistry, Commitment, Convictions and Character. They apply equally well in the hiring of professionals in the construction field. I have found Greg Powell/Architecture Plus to be at the top in all 5 C's. Our project was stalled before he got involved. He is competent, and worked with us and the City to revise our plans and our approach to get it approved. He knows the CBC and how to work with city planners. Good Chemistry--he is pleasant to work with, and firm when he needs to be. He works well with others in the field. Commitment and Convictions -- it is clear he believes in our project, and has the convictions it will take to solve problems and negotiate solutions. And he brings a lot to the table. He is not just an architect, but a project manager who can think outside the box, and do what it takes to get things done. But the hardest C to find (in any field) is Character. Greg is a man of integrity. He does what he says he will do, when he says he will do it, and he is someone worthy of trust. We trust him because he has earned it, and I encourage any reader to give him the opportunity to earn your trust, too.

Greg designed our new 5700 sq/ft home in San Marino, CA. Together we decided on a style and Greg took care of the details. Our house has gotten countless compliments and is the showcase of the street. Working with Greg was easy. He always made himself available to answer the hundreds of phone calls and tens of meetings. This was very important to me as I had just fired another local architect because of his inattention to my calls. Getting approval to build was very difficult and time consuming in my city. I know that Greg spent much more time and involvement than he initially bargained for, yet he saw it through to the end. My only negative would be that it took him a long time to get the plans finished once we had approval to proceed. I highly recommend him.

I hired Greg last year as the architect on a major remodel we were doing on our house. Throughout the project, Greg was on time and had good communication. Remodeling projects are never easy, but with Greg, the process ran smoothly. I would recommend him to friends and family.

Greg designed a complete remodel of the kitchen, den, dining room and spa room area of my house. The design involved removing the spa room, expanding the den and adding a bathroom. He was easy to work with, delivered on time, and the results were beautiful. Greg also arranged for the contractor that did the work, facilitated the permitting process and helped find a structural engineer that we needed.

After being in real estate development and investment for over 19 years, you come to meet a lot of different architects.
