About me: I live and garden about a block away from the shores of Lake Michigan. While winters can be very severe, summers are lush and full of moist lake breezes. I am an artist by profession and I apply the same principles of color and composition to my garden that I use in my artwork. I grow only hardy plant material that can survive on its own without any winterprotection or chemical spraying and I garden as close to organic as possible. I firmly believe that if something can't manage on its own without special treatment, it shouldn't be here
My collection of roses is small but select. I grow mostly Explorers, rugosas, OGRs and species roses. They all need to integrate into the garden and landscape with all the other perennials, shrubs and bulbs that I grow.
I have been featured on PBS's regionally produced "Great Lakes Gardener" and I write a monthly gardening column for M Magazine.
