About me: I'm a vocal and choral musician by profession, and have gardened for over 30 years. My husband and I have three grown daughters, one here in town and two in Seattle.
I gardened on 1/2 acre in Surrey, British Columbia for 17 years, each year expanding the amount of garden bed space and the number of perennials, bulbs, etc. What a fantastic climate for gardening! We lived in Nashville ('02-'05) and improved the front yard of the house we rented with annuals and perennials, and winter sowed for the first time.
I moved with my hubby to Michigan in July, 2005 to a property of over three glorious acres with a pond, but which hasn't been gardened for decades--a blank canvas.I'm winter sowing like mad and hope to have many seedlings to plant! We're enjoying the wildlife, peace and quiet, and plan to get some chickens in spring 2006.
I garden organically and love composting.

Commented: Jade Bush Beans are a winner in my book! Thanks for the recommendation! I've put it on my notes for next year. I see you're in my zone, too, so I presume they'll do well here.

Commented: Fennel produces I had a dozen of those caterpillars on my fennel, but there are none now, after a week or so. Where would they have gone? Should I be looking for a chrysalis somewhere? Or is it likely birds ate them ...
