About me: Hi there;
We live in a cabin on a small mountain {approx. 1400' elevation} in the lower Hudson Valley. The bottom of our mountain is pretty much surburbs like...But up here is a different world. We're between a small waterfall...falling into a brook...falling into a pool {Not swimable}on one side of our cabin. There is another brook on the other side of our cabin also. All of our gardens are raised using stone and rock. We grow hugh amount of rocks and boulders each and every year, faster than any other plants in our gardens...and we harvest and use them all. LOL We don't get frost in our hollow due to some pheonomenum of of the moving air between the 2 brooks and falls..But still very cold in winter..about 10 to 15 degrees lower than 5 min to bottom of mountain. sometimes we get a lot of snow when two trails below get rain. BUT..We're also cooler in summer for the same reason..Nice huh? Just really into gardening up here for a few years. Had beautiful gardens years ago in another location, but have not really been able to get back into it until recently. I'm sure you all know that it's somthing in our genes and part of our soul. Gardening is my medication and meditation for everything..The best cure-all. I've been a lurker for a few months now and hope to get to know all of the other gardeners soon...The Greatest, most helpful and knowledgeable group of people on the web.
