About me: I am a self-taught gardener-- is there any other kind? I raises a variety of vegetables and flowers in containers and lasagna beds scattered around our third of an acre lot.
When we moved here almost 13 years ago, I did not think I would be able to grow anything because of the extreme climate. I am happy to report that I was wrong. Way,way, wrong! If you are willing to put in the effort to fight the wind, the drought, the heat, the late frosts, almost anything will grow here!
But gardeners are optimists by definition, and I'm always sure that THIS year is going to be the year my plan comes together.

Commented: My violets got sick... Please help. I'm not an AV exert, but I seem to remember hearing people complain of mealybugs. If you have any uninfected plants, isolate them quickly, and ditch the rest, if no one here as any better ideas.
