Commented: Slate Driveways? Slate is definately way too slippery when wet; I always steer my clients away from it. I imagine that in Seattle moss growing would make it even worse. Also, if there were ever going to be a car on it...

Commented: depth of landscaping rock 2" should do it. You might want some landscape fabric underneath to keep the rock from gradually mixing with the soil below.
