About me: I am a teacher of 24 years. Fifteen in Special Ed and nine teaching eighth grade language arts. I love to read mysteries, biographies and history. I rediscovered cross stitch for the winter months here in Ohio and I love to garden.I have two daughters, 14 and 13. My husband teaches high school science. He built me a potting shed several years ago. Wasn't that nice of him. I raise dahlias, roses, and anything else I can grow to use in vases. At Christmas time I make centerpieces that I sell and give away. Lots of pine and doodads.I want a cottage garden but haven't been able to get the area and the look yet. I will gladly share anything I have lilacs, frilly pink poppy seed, etc.Hope to hear from you

Commented: Is it just the year??? Mine aren't blooming either. From what I have researched is that the nights in ohio have been to warm and the soil temps are to warm also. I am just sick over the fact that they are just sitting there...

Commented: how fast do cannas grow from seed? Something I picked up in my Master Gardeners classes is to use a nail file to nick seeds. I usually just soak my seeds that need softened up but my instructor always swears by the "file."
