My next project: Would be to put in an in ground fire pit.
About me: My love of gardening began I suppose when I was a child. I was raised by my grandparents in a rural area of the state on what I called a farm. We had 3 gardens, about an acre apiece. I remember watching my grandmother plant the beans and corn, and later would marvel at the way she did it with no formal education. When I planted my first vegetable garden, I did it the same way I saw her. Complete with an empty vegetable can with holes pounded with a nail in the bottom for watering the seeds. I dropped 2 to 3 bean seeds to 2 corn seeds and was so excited to see them begin to sprout and grow. The only thing that dampened my joy was that she was not here to see it. I feel closest to her when my hands are in the earth.
I am an avid birdwatcher, and love flowers. I am most happiest when digging in the dirt and when I sitting with my birds surround me at the feeders. I love my quiet time. I have two daughters and two grandchildren. I once had a beautiful flower garden and yard, but lost my place and had to start over. I managed to get a good start but lost everything once more due to unforeseen and out of my control circumstances. So now I am starting again. I am trying to start my flowers again. I had seeds from years ago from the Midwest area, and I was so blessed to see the beautiful red Mexican sunflower come growing out of the hard dirt. I call that summer a special gift from God. He blesses me through the flowers and the song of the bird.
