About me: I live in Northern San Diego county in a house with a large yard by suburban standards. My garden is dedicated to my daughter, Ginger, who died suddenly at age 19 a few years ago. A very special Weeping Willow sapling was given to me by Ginger’s fiancee after her passing and is the center piece of the yard. My interest is flowering plants, drought tolerant plants, scented foliage, succulents, and plants that tolerate heavy alkaline soil (which is all I’ve got!). My husband was a sales representative for a company that installs interlocking paving, for driveways, patios, pool decks, walkways, shopping centers, etc. In the past his company replaced all our ugly concrete with the most beautiful, durable and colorful paving. And in so doing created many new planting spaces. My husband designed the hardscape but he lets me do all the gardening so I can play in the dirt to my heart’s content. In the beauty of flowers I am reminded of Ginger’s delicate yet vibrant beauty. Each new seed that germinates is a reaffirmation of life.
