About me: Hello Gardening Friends!
I am a director of a children’s organization my daughter Alexis started when she was then 9 years old. The Kids’ Hospital Network (TKHN) works with children and their families that have a challenge or an illness.
I have been a "basic" gardener for years with my children. My mother always had a "cutting garden" around her patio and each time some one came to visit she would give them a bouquet. :-)
We moved to our house in July of ’89 and all I could plant was wildflower seeds at the time and a few annuals. Well it took the wildflower seeds three years to grow but they were beautiful. However 6 years ago a wonderful friend showed me how to propergrate and so she allowed me to dig in her garden. So I now have some perennials thanks to her. But I can’t live without salmon impatients for fill ins around the shaded parts of our yard..
We work with our Community Garden and with the members of our community built an accessible garden plot for person’s with mobilty issues. We work with children on garden projects online as well.
My daughter Alexis who is chronically ill is recoverying this summer from back surgery - all she wanted to do is attempt growing more roses. So we are trying to put in a cottage garden and re-landscape the front yard. This has been most difficult because my discs are out, luckily Alexis has two younger siblings that have been a wonderful help. We have gotten some terrific suggestions about gardening from members here on the GW and we appreciate everyone’s help and Spike for an incredible forum!!!!
Also we notice here on Cape Cod that some homes are being sold or remodeled - but the sad thing you go by the house in a few days and find all the perennials, shrubs, trees, etc bulldozered away!!!! I wish if anyone is getting "rid" of plants - please email me you can drop them off in our driveway - we will take just about anything that is not invasive, especially shrubs, hyrdrandrea, Rose of Sharon, Rhodendrums, Evergreens, etc Roses and perennials for Alexis’ cottage garden as well as mulch, large bedding rocks, and manure. Believe me we will take good care of your plants! Many many many thanks!
Email us any time - we love hearing from other members and seeing the pictures of your gardens.Gardening is truely therapy! I love all God’s beautiful creations!
