About me: I've been a gardener since the age of 5 when my mother gave me my first plot of land to work. Little did she know what she had started
My husband and I are in the process of restoring a 1920 Colonial Revival California Bungalow in Hollywood (as in Hooray for) that was built by Chaplin Studios for its employees.
Our garden is the largest on the block, being an urban setting most folks have rental property in back, we don't and have taken full advantage of the space and wonderfully fertile soil that was at one time orange grove. We are quite proud that we are completely organic and use no chemicals whatsoever which has enabled a diverse community of fauna to thrive in our garden - a pretty amazing accomplishment in the middle of Los Angeles. I have planted mostly period appropriate heirlooms in my extensive cottage garden out front (the lawn has shrunk considerably over the last 5 years) and having lived in Hawaii for many years we have tropical, orchid, and water gardens as well.

My zone is: z9 CA
