About me: I collect fern, especially Cheilanthes and other xerophytic ferns. In my garden a have a great collection of hardy ferns too. I am interested in all other perennial herbs which like shady situations as well. I like to exchange spores from interesting ferns and if you have some or get some from ferns I have please write to me via forum-mail.

Commented: Japanese Painted Fern Question... Japanese painted fern is possible to grow up from a piece of roots. It is no problem to divide with a sharp knife. In moist acidic soil with good drainage it grows up very fast. regards Athyriana

Commented: Silver Fern or Ponga from NZ hello maryk Silver Fern is not hardy to zone 6, I think Zone 8 is the best for growing outside. regards Athyriana www.farngarten.de
