How to Get the Right Flow in an L-Shaped Kitchen
1) Put the range on the long side of the L. If you have an island you don’t want your range opposite your short piece of counter, want it opposite your long piece of counter
2) Pay attention to your corners.
a) if it’s a big kitchen, transition from cooking to clean-up side w/ step-in corner pantry to divide those two areas. only works w/ certain length on wall
b) in smaller kitchen would lose too much counter – better to put a pullout pantry on end of aisle next to refrigerator [what do you do w/ corner? just have counter continuous and do a good pullout]
3) Put the clean-up sink on the short wall. once you have the range on the long wall and the sink on the island, the clean-up sink goes on the short wall. Explain clean-up sink.
4) Where to put your refrigerator. Let the reader know if this is a must-have or a nice-to-have – I got the impression it was kind of optional.
for a small kitchen
a) put the refrigerator on the end of the long wall. if someone is coming to get juice or beer they don’t have to walk to the cook’s path to get it. it’s on the end of the long wall …
for a large kitchen, there is an alternative
b) if you have the large kitchen. it could go on corner pantry at the joint of the L
