zannej's bathroom & laundry room ideas
The alterations proposed look cool.
updated version of the bathroom sketch. The light we purchased is 2 bulbs, the bath mats will most likely be blue (but we haven't purchased them yet), I'm not sure if there would be space for the "legs' with shelf space on the underside of the space saver so I removed them (will have to see once I lay things out in the actual room). I decided to use the mirror that came with the vanity & have the medicine cabinet on the opposite wall with a shaving station shelf (that way hair will go into a trash bin instead of the sink). I did my best to fix the perspective on the tub, changed the toilet tank to match the one we will be installing a bit better, and added a toilet paper holder.
Toto Entrada 1.28gpf "universal height" watersense toilet. $159.99 FREE shipping Without seat, bowl is 16-1/4" high. It's slim so it doesn't take up much space side to side, but the bottom porcelain does extend back enough that you MUST have at least 12" rough in.
Model # 2992-4-0 KOHLER Tresham White Drop-In Oval Bathroom Sink with Overflow Drain 6" deep
I like the blue walls
I like the seating and storage space for this laundry room.
I like the color of the vanity & I like that there is room to to sit (although no chair visible here) with legs under the counter. I like that there is a shower seat, but I'm not a fan of that type of tile.
Nice roughed-in laundry area.

2nd coat of paint after it dried. I like how it came out.
2nd coat of paint on the other side of the door. Turned out nicely.
More mold on the door frame. I hit it with Killz after this.
Mold on the door frame.
Mold on the door frame bc of a leaky roof.
1st coat of paint dried-- you can see it needs a 2nd coat and a chip came out from something that stuck to it and I picked it off.
1st coat of paint dried
1st coat of paint after it dried-- you can see the roller marks
1st coat of paint on one side of the door. You can see the roller marks, some scratches I got on it when I flipped it to paint the other side, and some dust from the primer because I forgot to flip the cardboard over.
Bolts trimmed off

Masonite Decorative Glass Right-Hand Inswing Primed Steel Prehung Entry Door with Insulating Core
Inside half of the door with filler primer to try to obscure the dings and a white primer on top to make the color more consistent. See note from other picture-- the white primer didn't spray evenly for some reason.
Closer shot of the pet door after putting on 3 coats of filler primer & then covering it with white primer. Filler primer went on smoothly but had to be sanded between coats (24 hours for drying time between sanding). The metal primer spray I used either had a defective cap, or something was wrong with it because I shook it for 2 minutes straight and it still spurted and came out inconsistently. Since the filler primer didn't have that problem, I knew it wasn't something I was doing wrong. I used the white primer on top because I didn't want the gray to show through the paint and wanted it to be a bit more consistent.
Closer shot of the pet door end of the door. I will have to do a 2nd coat.
Inside half of the door painted with Behr Marquee Deep River satin exterior paint. 1st coat. Yeah, I missed a spot, but I went back and fixed it later.
Inside half of the door showing some of the scratches & dings it got because I failed to put down cardboard on the work surfaces. Note to self: Always prep your work surface properly before proceeding!
Outside half of the door on it's side with pet door secured with bolts (before caps and caulking)
I wasn't happy with how the nuts slipped in to some of the holes so I used washers to make sure the bolts were fully secure. Since I had to remove the nuts to put the washers on, I used a clamp to make sure nothing came apart.
Inner half of the pet door (sideways bc I had door on its side). Because I had to use bolts, washers, and nuts, I covered them with white tape (although it will have to be redone since I'm sure the painter's tape will pull them off when I'm done painting.
Outer half of the pet door with caps over the holes and caulk around the perimeter. It's sideways because I had to set the door on it's side to secure the bolts (it came with screws but they wouldn't anchor in to foam).
Pet door outline marked & corners drilled on a Masonite steel clad "solid" core door. (Misleading bc the core is foam)
Hole cut exposing the foam core. Masonite customer service told me that a pet door could be installed in this door when I contacted them. They failed to mention anywhere in the description that the core was foam.
Work in progress in my disorganized work shop. You can see the door frame standing up and waiting for some TLC.
