1. A green swag and a wreath play off this icy blue door beautifully, while copper on the lights, mailbox and pediment are warm touches.
2. A simple combination of white pine swags and red ribbon has this traditional home all dressed up for the holidays. And the charming oranges and branches add some unexpected contrast on the wreath.
3. It’s a very Nutcracker Christmas at this San Francisco house. Cue the Sugar Plum Fairy!

4. If the whole red-and-green thing really isn’t your bag, think metallic. Silver and gold elements sparkle on this wreath.
5. The beautiful ring of silver balls hits the right note on this more modern entry.
6. If you like your silver balls in a more fanciful design, dress a topiary in them.

7. Double doors deserve twin wreaths.
8. Though if you’re not into symmetry, off-kilter has its charms too.
9. It’s a sled theme at this home in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. And the homeowners did a beautiful job with their planters. Look for colored branches from plants like white birch and redtwig dogwood.
10. If you’re not getting much use out of that old Flexible Flyer these days, consider dressing it up for entry decor. And check out the way the owners mounted the wreath on a gold frame.

11. A black-and-white gingham ribbon subtly picks up on this grand entryway’s architecture.
12. Sometimes one element is the icing on the cake. In this case, it’s those big shiny red Christmas balls.
13. There’s so much charm to comment on here, but the bedecked bell is the standout.
14. If you don’t have a door that can handle a wreath (like these glass sliders), try placing the wreath to the side, like we see in this pretty, wintry tableau.
15. Or if you like an oversize wreath that is too big for your door, find a spot nearby.
16. Black, white and green create a sophisticated entry here. And note that the wreath’s “bow” is actually a plaid scarf.
17. These tiny Christmas trees are trimmed out just like an indoor one.
19. The beautiful palette provided by evergreens, white birch branches and pine cones is so pleasing.
20. Extra wreaths flank the front door around the light fixtures.
21. A log cabin home got musical with its wreath, with a violin in the center hitting just the right note.
22. This door isn’t visible from the street, so a beautiful star hanging from the porch marks the season instead.
23. Plain boxwood with a plaid bow keep things sweet and simple, while urns festooned with branches, greens and berries amp up the entryway.
24. When your door is already cherry red, a wreath of twigs and a ribbon is a lovely choice. Poinsettias and a swag finish off the look.
29. This wreath foreshadows the unexpected jewel-toned holiday accents that await inside.
30. Red berries and a poinsettia flourish mark this potting shed’s simple plank door.
31. This beautiful front door allows a peek through to the tree inside.
32. An antler wreath adds just the right texture to this red industrial door.
33. Wreaths made of red chilis feel right at home on these Tuscan doors.
34. Unexpected chartreuse and yellow berries rev up this entry’s decorations.
35. The center of the door is an unusual and pleasing placement for this wreath of classic fir and pine cones with a red bow.
36. This large door is doing triple duty for the holidays.
37. Decorating small evergreens in outdoor planters like Christmas trees is always fun.
38. Poinsettia flowers grace the wreath on this front door.
39. An all-red wreath is a standout against a classic black and white New Orleans home.
40. This photo shows how the over-the-door wreath hook is a decorating opportunity. Try covering it with a ribbon or fabric.
41. Happy reindeer and substantial garlands welcome at this front door, which is painted the perfect shade of red for the season.
42. Rev up the color palette by choosing a chartreuse green.
43. Big gold stars add some sparkle to these wreaths.
44. Of course there is no rule that you have to have a ring-shaped wreath. Swags mix things up, and can be easier and faster to whip together.
45. Green apples play off the deep blue color of this front door.
46. A plain green boxwood wreath makes the transition from fall to winter.
