Sangria is a great cocktail to serve to a crowd of thirsty guests. And when the temperatures drop and the leaves start to fall, apples, figs and pomegranate seeds are the perfect alternative to the classic berry and citrus-filled recipe. This version combines pomegranate juice with prosecco and riesling, creating a delicious concoction with just a hint of sweetness.
We’ll also show you how to add some finishing touches to an outdoor bar setup on your patio, so the presentation is just as good as the drink itself.

Recipe for Pomegranate Sangria
- Two bottles of prosecco, chilled
- One bottle of dry riesling, chilled
- 1 cup Grey Goose Cherry Noir vodka
- ½ cup Luxardo maraschino liqueur
- ¼ cup triple sec
- 3 cups pomegranate juice
- Two apples, sliced
- 1 cup fresh figs, quartered
- 1 cup pomegranate seeds
Optional: You may want to cut extra fruit for guests to add to their drinks. Place the fruit in small bowls behind the glasses on your mini bar.
Put the prosecco and riesling in the refrigerator to chill. The day before your party, combine the rest of the ingredients in a bowl. Store it in the refrigerator, allowing the fruit to infuse the liquid overnight.
Label the cocktail so that guests will know what it is. If you plan to serve the sangria in a glass drink dispenser, you can write the name on the top with a chalk marker. Just be sure to avoid the bottom section of the glass, where the condensation may ruin your writing.

Just before you plan to serve the sangria, pour the fruit mixture into the dispenser, and then add the prosecco and riesling. Striped straws provide an eye-catching finishing touch.
Styling Tips for Your Outdoor Mini Bar
For your mini bar, you’ll need a sturdy counter-height table or cart — preferably one with shelves. Place an ice bucket with tongs on one of the lower shelves instead of adding the ice directly to the dispenser. This will prevent it from diluting the sangria.
A pine cone garland is a nice autumn touch for the perimeter of the table. Small votive candles help complete the look.

Positioning your mini bar in the right place is important too. Make sure that it is near the entrance to the party. That way, your family and friends are sure to appreciate the effort you put into making and styling this delicious boozy beverage.

I prefer sangria made with wine only, no spirits. And don't forget to add luscious grapes in the fall!
@Brandi Rea depending on where you live and your local food stores, California Black fresh Mission figs (in plastic box) are available. They are pricey however - about $6-7.00 for 9. They are also imported from Chile and New Zealand. Several varieties from brown to black. Check your local stores.
