Stairs: Bridger Builders designed a stairway with side lighting off the exposed brick wall. The treads are stained oak and wrapped in metal inlay.
Record room: Dickson used space under the stairs to create a custom daybed for listening to a vinyl record collection. “We felt that artwork [and] small accessories such as pillows, books and unique vintage finds were an easy way to add color and character,” Dickson says.

Kitchen: A quartz countertop made to look like raw concrete joins black and white custom cabinetry and steel pendants to continue the industrial loft look.

Custom steel floating shelves over a subway-tiled backsplash keep an open, airy aesthetic.
Dining area: Just off the kitchen, guests can gather around a custom-made table under 20-foot-high ceilings. The client designed a nine-foot mirror that stretches up both floors of the condo along the exposed brick wall. Warm leather camel chairs and fresh florals keep the area cozy and inviting.

Color palette: To ground the elevated heights and balcony off the window wall, Dickson kept the palette fairly neutral. The client found a hanging chair on vacation that gives a playful element to the room, while accessories pull in texture.

Accessories: Dickson looked to the walls for inspiration on accent tones and “tied in the rust color on the pillows with the brick,” she says. Deep earthy colors give the room depth and warmth.
Happy hour: Those same rusty whiskey hues and leather accents show up in accent pieces, such as this simple round tray, on which guests can rest their cocktails.

Art: An oversized art piece hangs in the main living space, bringing bold colors and “an unexpected element” to the room, Dickson says.

Master bedroom: Upstairs, the master suite overlooks the open loft below, with which it shares plenty of natural light. Moody custom pillows give this room texture and depth, while a custom, built-in headboard — complete with side tables and book storage — perfectly fits the space and allows for books above. Another oversized piece of art adds an extra unexpected layer.
“We strive to always put something unpredictable in our designs,” Dickson says. “Bright colors in a very toned down neutral space gave us that unique design feature we were searching for.”

I love the modern industrial work and the attention to tying all the colours to the exposed brick. I like the idea of over sized art work for this space but the choices do nothing for me and the one in the master bedroom is downright scary. I would hate to go to my private sanctuary and be faced with that
Those uniquely designed stairs have a nice mix of modern functionality and gothic mystique.
