@Naomi, I like the one-panel and two-panel and do not care for the five-panel...just too busy for me and more "ledges" to catch dust on.
One way you might be able to save a little is by spec'ing out solid-core doors only for the rooms where sound-deadening really matters (bedrooms, bathrooms, offices). That's what we did. Closet doors can be the same style but hollow-core, which cost a little less. We went with two-panel, which I love for our farmhouse/coastal/rustic vibe, but that's a very individual choice, and you should get what you want if your budget can stand it, because doors are something you will really notice over and over.
Unfortunately, our builder didn't remember that we wanted hollow-core for closets and ordered all solid-core, so more $$. And DH and I just removed two doors on closets that were NOT working for us (one bumped into the door between garage and house constantly, and the other into our master closet we specified NO door and builder got mixed up and ordered/installed a door there; he did credit us for it once we reminded him). Those solid doors were super HEAVY to move into our crawlspace...but they are very nice!
