rockybird - its an interesting concept to switch the living and dining. It does seem to give more formality to the living room and bring dining forward. Also gives more space for that living / adult room. I've attached an example below. However, it does seem to create a lot more walking through the dining room vs. it being off to the side. At this point we are leaning towards doing the best we can in the existing layout. It will be a lot more work and expense to move the kitchen over. To that end, we've taken some advice and lengthened the island. Reduced seating areas in the kitchen. Moved the fridge/freezer back to the range wall and created two work triangles with dairy and meat. And Jan - really really apprecite the mockup you put together and the labels especially - family room for grownups. Love it.

Thanks @makmartell and @strategery. I was surprised that this was the finished product. I have other mitered edge quartzite in the house and it looks much more refined than this. @strategery, the contract is for a 2” feathered mitered edge. Would love to hear some pros opinions if available :)

Hi Rockybird, good to see you. My last house was very open and modern, and I painted my cabinets Sw Forestwood Green. I loved it. I think the dark green, with the white and a splash of pink will look fantastic.

Have you considered uv film for windows to protect whatever you choose to do going forward, including walnut?

BTW This is our new home weeks ago. My camera broke so no recent pictures. We appreciate every cinder block that's going into building our home. To think where we had been living a year and a half ago, this home would have been unthinkable, just not something that entered our minds as a reality- the SLUMS were our reality! We're excited and we will finally close in the end of July. Here is a link that might be useful: our new home

I wonder why the oversize was worse than the v15? Glad you have something to use!

Then if that winow counts I would add a pocket door to the bathroom in suzanne’s plan above and do that one, if it were me. You can leave the pocket door open to let more light into the bedroom when you don’t need the privacy of the bathroom. One thing you might also consider is swapping the toilet and shower to get the toilet further from the bed.
