Neutrals in the Bedroom
My mom, who is visiting this weekend, and I have a running debate over whether bright colors or neutrals is better in a home, especially in the bedroom. Where color can change moods, brighten or calm an atmosphere, and consciously tie together the different rooms through a home, I still love neutrals.
A designer friend recently said that white is such a great place to start and build from, especially in younger homes and homes whose owners pleasantly have designer schizophrenia. A step beyond white, neutrals can give dimension and calming details to a dwelling without overpowering it. The goal is to have a guest remember the beauty of your home but not remember simply the blaring hot pink pillows on the couch. Neutrals are understated and classic. Just look at Martha Stewart's putties, olives, and Bedford Grays throughout her Bedford, NY home.
Here's a look at neutrals and how they work in a bedroom. What is your opinion and how do you make it work?
