May the Fourth Be With You: Happy ‘Star Wars’ Day
Alert all commands: This ‘Star Wars’ home decor is wizard!
Star Wars fans, let’s geek out today. Why today? Because “May the Fourth” sounds like someone mispronouncing “May the force [be with you].” Sounds like as good a reason as any for a made-up holiday, and it certainly sounds a lot more fun than May 3, which, according to the internet, was Lumpy Rug Day. So prepare to jump to hyperspace, and May the Fourth be with you!
If you’ve recently watched Rogue One, you’ve seen the genesis of the Death Star you knew so well. Wannabe Jedi Knights like to celebrate its demise, so why not put it in a honking big mural? In my humble opinion, some of the best murals feature that rambling wreck, the Millennium Falcon, front and center.

R2-D2 and C-3PO mark the opening to a Hoth ice cave, aka a secret loft fort, accessible only by a rock climbing wall.
There are more subtle Star Wars home decor details to be had than room-wrapping murals — consider these graphic posters representing the planets. And a new design feature that’s popped up since our last Star Wars roundup is light sabers used as light fixtures, such as those seen here. Don’t worry, no Kyber crystals are required!
It took blowing up the photo and squinting to understand why this swanky vignette popped up when I searched “Star Wars” on Houzz.
Upon closer inspection, I made out Darth Vader and Boba Fett framed out in a Victorian cameo kind of pattern.

The force is strong in this media room-office. Posters from the original trilogy glow against metallic-washed blue walls.
Are Imperial helmets in the bedroom good feng shui? I don’t know, but they look good in this contemporary home.
Likewise, a little bit of the dark side may help with sleep.

This kiddo has the ultimate bedroom for a young Jedi Knight in training. The walls are covered in stars, and the designer mounted a Luke Skywalker sticker on foam core to watch over him. His light saber serves as a sconce that changes color, and his bed is marked with the Rebel Alliance logo. He even has blue rope lights underneath his bed that illuminate a secret fort.
Of course, there is no shortage of spectacular Star Wars-themed theater rooms on Houzz. It tickles me to think of watching something very un-sci-fi like Enchanted April, Calendar Girls or Grey Gardens in one of these. Is that allowed? Perhaps Arrival would make the cut?
