I would say to ignore the trends and paint a color that suites your space(s), and one you like. You have to look at it for years to come. Trendy colors come and go almost annually.
We just painted our LR and foyer (and eventually up the steps) BM Beach Glass and it is beautiful. It shows as a grayish blue/green color...at times more grayish/green, others more grayish/blueish, and most times you can see a tint of all three (there is NO blue in the paint mix at all) based on the light that hits it at various times of the day. It is quite an interesting color. I consider it a neutral because it goes with any color I put up against it from reds and even yellows. Not many colors look wrong it Beach Glass.
