Great Space: Seattle Meets Paris
A cleverly placed print creates a dramatic contrast with this home's amazing view
It's hard to say which is more striking when you first see this photo: the stunning view of the Seattle skyline and Space Needle, or the dramatic print of the Eiffel Tower mid-construction.
The creative owners of this house worked closely with Seattle firm Janof Hald Architecture on their interior design. The homeowners themselves came up with the idea to place this massive print of the Eiffel Tower here to play off the view of Seattle's Space-Age landmark.

The two towers aren't the only eye-catching aspects of this room's design. The beautiful reclaimed wood ceiling is another tribute to Seattle design history. The wood is reclaimed from a fire floor in the original home. These floors were very common in Seattle warehouses as a form of fire protection. They consisted of solid sheets of wood laid on-end vertically, so you can only see the half-inch edge. The result was a 4-inch-thick floor. This ceiling was built the same way.
This breakfast nook sits right off of the kitchen. The steel table was made by the craftsman who also designed and built railings for the home. The countertop is honed Carrera marble with a fabricated 2.5" edge, and the wood floor is a bleached oak reclaimed from a French Chateau.
