Some of Houzz’s wine aficionados like to store their collections in a small cloistered space in the cellar. Others surround them in clear glass and put them front and center in the foyer. The most popular photos uploaded this year — as measured by the number of saves to ideabooks — incorporate elements like LED lighting, a peekaboo kitchen floor, the use of under-the-staircase space, a rolling ladder and a tasting area. Whatever you’re tasting, all these rooms scored 100 points with plenty of Houzz readers.
10. The front entry of this house has a clear view from front to back, with this impressive wine display in between. Black metal racks create a neat and organized display. It’s highlighted by LED lights, appropriate for the display since they won’t damage the wine.
9. Wine lovers are starting to turn — the bottles around, that is. Storing wine so that the label faces outward, instead of the more traditional way where all you see is the cork and neck, makes it easy to find the bottle you need.

With its coarse-cut limestone arches, brick details, reclaimed-teak shelving and rough-hewn beams, it looks as though it could be beneath a centuries-old European country house. A custom teak island provides a wonderful tasting space in the middle.
3. It’s so interesting that these top 10 photos flip from dark, traditional and tucked away to light, contemporary and out in the open. The wine space in this contemporary home is cleverly located underneath the staircase. Thanks to great lighting and a glass surround, it has a prominent spot within view of other rooms.

2. This Philadelphia wine cellar has the feeling of a cozy Italian wine shop, thanks to custom sapele wood racks that hold up to 900 bottles and the display level for special wines. The flooring is perfect for a wine space since it’s made of cork. A counter at the end provides a space to open a bottle and pour a glass or two for a tasting right in the room.
1. With all the extensive fancy wine displays on Houzz, this simple under-the-stairs option was the favorite. That’s not to say it isn’t elegantly executed. Our readers are looking for solutions that are smart and practical as well as beautiful. The location makes use of often-wasted space, a glass door allows a view in, and the location prevents direct sunlight from getting in and damaging the wine.

#5 reminds me, in a good, less dusty/cobwebby way, of the secret room in Young Frankenstein. "Put. The candle. Back!"
I meant #5, sorry...using the old metalwork chandelier and yards of heavy carved oak paneling lying in the scariest room in the house:
These are all gorgeous spaces- which is why we are busy saving them.. dreaming of that someday... In the meantime, here are some anybody and everybody wine spaces!
Here a small wine fridge is located in a vestibule between the kitchen and dining room with ample storage and counter space:
Here the Sub-Zero wine fridge is located in the kitchen of this heavy entertainer, where all of their prep and lots of friends and family gather:
Meanwhile, located off the entertainer's kitchen and dining room is this small nook which has refrigerator drawers and counter space for the wine and cheese:
While not technically a wine room- this Scotch room has ample refrigeration and storage to hold any libation!
And yes, we do have a traditional wine cellar too!
