I would have loved soapstone if I could have found a piece light enough... given that where I am in Australia, I couldn't find a piece at all, I chose quartz.

I ended up with CaesarStone Bianco Drift... it's lovely, looks like seafoam settled on pale sand - I don't like the veining and chunks in stones and marbles; this was light and delicate enough to pass muster.

I don't like terrazzo styles either, which, as a child of the 70's, will forever speak to me of public toilets in shopping centres.

I love the easy care of it, and CaesarStone ended up being the only choice as their patterns were much more natural looking - other brands looked terribly artificial and unsophisticated in comparison, to me. I'd have happily gone with another brand, but to be honest, it was the only one I liked.

I was thrilled to find quartz with the creamy white color and subtle grey veining of the beautiful marble I fell in love with.
I also knew it’s fragility wasn’t feasible to a household with young children.
What I didn’t know about was the oil soap. I’ve also discovered ammonia free windex is the best thing to get the countertops spotless.
