1. Mirror. A wall mirror allows you to check your appearance before you dash out the door.

2. Recycling bin. A recycling box, basket or bin lets you toss junk mail and the like before you drag it all the way into your home. “The farther it gets in the home, the bigger the clutter it creates,” Engelbach says.
4. Out-of-view storage. A pullout drawer or cubby allows you to keep useful items such as chargers, hand sanitizer and sunglasses within reach but hidden.
5. Decor that makes you happy. Personal decor makes the space yours. “You really should decorate the way that makes you happy,” Engelbach says, “so you can’t wait to open your door and be greeted by your home.”
