BEFORE: Geri Clark described her master bathroom before the renovation as “basic builder ‘blah.’” Her goal was to go from blah to “wow” by keeping the basic footprint of the original space but improving it with a mix of traditional and modern finishes.
AFTER: The Clarks’ contractor pulled out the set-in soaking tub and replaced it with a free-standing tub, a change that showcases both the tub and the block glass window behind it. Pulling down the wall separating the vanity from the tub area also allows the tub and its graceful fixture to shine.
Though most of the finishes in the room are more traditional, Geri Clark selected a contemporary chandelier for over the tub since the majority of their home outside of this space is contemporary-style decor. In this photo, the repeated circle pattern on the wall is actually a shadow created by the pattern of the chandelier.

Another special feature of the renovation is the extra storage the couple added above the vanities. Lighting above the vanities further brightened up the room. This photo more clearly shows the neutral wall paint, sans shadows from the chandelier. The vanity’s countertop is Carrara marble.

BEFORE: Prior to the renovation, the shower had a closed-off feel thanks to the pony wall, darkened glass barrier and color scheme.
AFTER: Removing the half walls that surrounded the old 3-by-4-foot shower and abutted the tub allowed the contractor to make the shower larger. The new shower is 4 by 6 feet. The full-length glass wall and bright white wainscoting also helps to make the space feel more expansive. The Clarks selected octagonal, 2-inch marble tiles for the shower floor. The shower walls are 8-by-12-inch porcelain tiles designed to look like Carrara marble.
For the bathroom floor, the Clarks chose 18-inch ceramic tile designed to look like marble.
Style muse: “The mood is clean, bright and inviting,” Clark says of her new master bathroom.
Bathtub: Rachel 70-inch freestanding tub, Ove Decors; chandelier: Antoinette, Warehouse of Tiffany; shower fixtures: Chrome Quentin collection, American Standard

The Clarks’ master bathroom lies right off the bedroom, with no door separation. However, the toilet, which is in a separate alcove off the master bedroom, has a pocket door to keep it hidden from view.
