9 Yummy Yellow Kitchen Islands
Whether you favor a soft butter or a bold gold, see what you can do with this happy hue
Did you know that you can use yellow to create a sunshine vibe in your home? The kitchen is my favorite room to feature this energizing color, and because a little yellow can go a long way, I find limiting it to the island is a great way to use it smartly and sparingly. Here are nine cheerful kitchens with a yellow island.
2. Buttercream
A barely-there yellow color is great for a traditional kitchen because its softness won’t compete with the decorative flourishes in the room. In this large kitchen, I like how Fersht Studio provided a visual break from the expanse of white-clad cabinets by going with the light yellow on the island.
Rich Cream from Behr is a similar softly warm hue.

3. Tangy Mustard
A more minimalist space can handle a maximum splash of color. Unlike in the previous example, there aren’t many decorative elements in this kitchen, so the bold mustard color doesn’t overwhelm.
Check out Golden Glow from PPG Pittsburgh Paints for a comparably spicy option.

5. Hint of Honey
This yellow has a bit of brown in it, which tones down its intensity. I like how it serves as a warm complement to the cooler gray perimeter cabinets, all designed and fabricated by Mitchel Berman Cabinetmakers Inc.
For a similarly sweet and mellow yellow, try Honey Bees from Sherwin-Williams.

6. Mellow Gold
Not too dark or too light, this yellow island color is just right in a kitchen from KGA Studio Architects. It also offers a nice light and bright contrast to the dark wood elements in the space.
Strike a perfect balance with equally bright yet light Amber Pearl from Valspar.

7. Boldly Banana
Bring a tropical vibe into the kitchen with a bold and zesty yellow. The island in this kitchen from b Architecture Studio provides an energizing spot for enjoying a morning coffee. This is an especially great color choice if you live in a cold or dreary climate.
Upbeat from Behr packs a similar punch.

8. Electric Lemon-Lime
I love working bright greenish-yellow hues into my projects because it’s such a fun and unexpected color. Of course, it doesn’t work in every space, nor is it for every homeowner. I think it works well in this kitchen designed by Seldin Design Studios because it really plays up the warm richness of the beautiful wood countertop, making it the focal point.
A comparably eye-catching color is Wow from Kelly-Moore Paints.

9. Soft Straw
I’d argue that a soft yellow such as this works well as a neutral. You can therefore pair it with just about any color. In a contemporary kitchen I could see it playing well with another, more vibrant hue. Here in this kitchen designed by Robert Frank Interiors, Goldfield by Benjamin Moore on the island acts as a nice bridge between the white and darker wood tones in the room.
