Practice studios at home
Weight TrainingEverybody knows that you can pop a few machines into a spare room and declare it a home gym. Usually these places are laden with clunky equipment and aren’t a fun or particularly safe place for children, meaning that parents have to carve out time away from their kids to work out. Having even just a single piece of equipment in the children’s playroom lets you get in some exercise while being around your kids. After all, toddlers don’t care how your machine looks in their room; they’re just happy to keep you by their side.
BalletIf you’re fortunate enough to have a hobby that doesn’t require much equipment, finding a spot to exercise in your home is probably already less of a challenge for you. You could create a low-cost barre yourself using common home improvement supplies, and many of the barre workout studios you see popping up in cities across the U.S. sell half-size barres that can be mounted to a door or wall for home practice. The best gift you can give yourself if you love ballet, Pilates or barre workouts is to mount your barre somewhere you’d appreciate a full-length mirror even when ballet class is not in session, such as a bedroom, entryway or even a walk-in closet.
